Two weeks ago I was snowsurfin at a really fun park. Having the time of my life, when oh-oh..mother nature called. Even though it was just half an hour before the lift closed, I couldn’t wait. When you have to go…you just have to go. So I decided to give a lil visit to a hotel above the lift. When I came back ( a bit lighter :) ) I saw my friend getting of the lift, she went like 3m away from it and WHAM!!! The whole thing fell!!! OMG! luckily no one got hurt, since it was just a small lift, but still the cable pulling it is in a lot of tention and then when it’s released the flying cable could seriously hurt someone. Well, thinking about it..if I didn’t “need to go” then I would have been on that lift. Kinda weird realizing this. I mean noone got hurt, but what if I would…what if :S
Well, after I had a nice ride down to the town, so here are a few photos. Oh and I got surprised on the parking lot, unfortunately it wasn’t my ride :/
Hi! Been snowboarding lately quite a lot. But now there’s a HOT new sport coming up!! It’s called Iceboarding! The rules are simple: Have a few warm days, so that the snow turns nice and soft and then have freezing days, so that the snow turns into ice. All you gotta do then is take a snowboard with the DULLEST edges and try snowboarding. For beginners it’s recommended you wear some butt guards, knee guards, a helmet and maybe some pillows anywhere else on your body. The experts can show of their stylish beanies and t-shirts :)
I had the luck of trying iceboarding for the past week. My last stop in my icepark tour was the Elan park in Rejdice. I must say that even though the boys take great care of it that it qualified as a perfect ice park with all the essentials. There were a few attempts of taking the parkbully and breaking the ice. But even the ice was too much for this machine and it started sliding sideways! So the boys went to shape the park the best they can. There was a lot of effort but even then the jumps had funny shapes and the inruns for the rails also. So as you can see the situation in Czech republic is perfect for this sport. Of course I’m a little more careful and consider myself as a beginner to iceboarding. I didn’t try any jumps, but I did give a few jibbing sessions. Another fun thing about this sport is it leaves awesome blue marks on your body!! It’s almost like tatoos! After getting very blue, we decided to visit the local pub with my friend and chillout a bit. I really did feel the atmosphere of the mountains. Especially thanks to that Saint Bernard in the pub (without the rum keg though). So anyone gonna try this new sport too?
So yeah, I was on my way to the mountains. Everything was cool. I picked up my friend that I ride with and we were doing some 120km on the highway, which I find a comfortable speed. Not too slow, not too fast. Anyways, there was this truck, so I tried to pass it. When I almost passed him I saw something white out of the corner of my eye. I thought it was snow. Nope, not snow at all. It was a SUPERMASSIVE piece of ICE!!!! It was like 50cm x 30cm and 5cm thick! If flew off the truck right on to my windshield. The funny part was that if flew from the right and hit my left side. Tore of my mirror and scratched my door (left side also). Weird. What was even weirder was the whole process of it. It happened superfast in like 1sec. But on the other hand when I saw it, I looked and it seemed so long before it hit me. It completely slowed down like matrix style and the ice even turned. Funny how the brain could replay this in slow motion. Well in the end everything was ok. Luckily I kept on going straight and stopped the truck. He admitted to everything, so his insurance should pay.
So, I was lying on my bed and my snowboard calender caught my eyes attention. It’s a really nice shot of some snowboarder in a pipe. The word “elan” is written on the snowboard pretty clearly. So I checked out who the rider was: Robert Krechter! Heh, funny that he posted a blog a few days ago. So now..robert I will be admiring your moves another 25 days :p
This is something I’d never think would happen to me. For the past week and half I’ve been lost in books, studying for exams, drinking nothing but coffee and tea..and eating…well not much. I guess that the stress caught up with me. Already 3 days I can’t eat anything, cause my stomach hurts so much :( Damn school, it’s bad for my health! Can’t wait to relax on my shredstick…hopefully a.s.a.p.
